Privacy Policy
What this site collects, what it does not, and how to have anything about you removed.

The short version
This site is run by one San Antonio resident, not a company. It asks for your email only if you choose to give it, stores what you send on its own server rather than handing it to a mailing platform, and never sells or shares it. It does use Google Analytics, and it does load fonts from Google — both of which mean Google sees that you visited. That is set out in full below.
Who is responsible
Protect Our Power SA is owned and operated by J Graham, a private individual in San Antonio, Texas. There is no company, no organisation and no staff. Questions about anything on this page go through the contact form.
What is collected, and why
If you join the mailing list
Your email address, and a note of which form you used (the pop-up, the footer, or the contact page). That is all — no name, no address, nothing else. It is used to send occasional updates about the proposal, and for nothing else.
If you send a message
Whatever you type: your message, and optionally your name and email address. Both of those are optional; leave them blank and you simply will not get a reply.
Automatically, when anyone visits
- Server logs. The web host records ordinary request information — IP address, browser, page requested, time — as essentially every web server does.
- A one-way hash of your IP address, kept for up to an hour, purely to stop the forms being submitted hundreds of times. It is hashed rather than stored, so it cannot be read back as an address.
- Google Analytics. Installed through the Site Kit plugin (measurement ID
GT-M38TBQ83). It records pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, and how you arrived. Google processes this on its own terms, and it is a third party we do not control. See Google’s privacy policy. If you would rather not be counted, Google publishes an opt-out browser add-on, and most browsers’ tracking protection blocks it. - Google Fonts. The site’s typefaces load from Google’s servers, which means your IP address reaches Google on every page view even if you block analytics.
What is stored in your browser
No advertising or tracking cookies are set by this site. Two small pieces of local storage are used, and they never leave your device:
- Local storage remembers that you dismissed or completed the mailing-list pop-up, so you are not asked again.
- Session storage holds the calculator’s answers for the length of the tab, so changing a setting does not re-ask the server. It clears when you close the tab.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies. WordPress sets cookies only if you log in to the site’s admin, which visitors do not.
What is not done
- Nothing is sold, rented, traded or shared for anyone else’s marketing.
- Your email address is not uploaded to Mailchimp, Constant Contact or any other platform. It sits in this site’s own database.
- There is no advertising, no ad network, no retargeting pixel, no data broker.
- Sending a message does not add you to the mailing list. Those are separate, deliberate choices.
- No attempt is made to work out who you are as an individual from analytics data.
Who else can see it
- The web host (EasyWP, from Namecheap) stores the site and its database, and can technically access what is on its servers.
- Google, for the analytics and fonts described above.
- Ko-fi, if you follow the support link. That happens on Ko-fi’s site under their privacy policy — no payment details are ever entered on, or seen by, this site.
- Anyone we are legally required to disclose to, if that ever arises.
How long it is kept
Mailing list addresses are kept until you ask to be removed or the list is shut down. Messages are kept while they are useful and then deleted. Rate-limiting hashes expire within the hour. Server logs and analytics follow the host’s and Google’s own retention periods.
Your choices
You can ask, at any time and without giving a reason, to be removed from the mailing list, to have a message you sent deleted, or to be told what is held about you. Use the contact form. There is no verification hoop; if you can describe what you sent, it will be removed.
Texas has no general consumer privacy statute that applies to a site of this size, and this is not a business subject to the GDPR or the CCPA. The rights above are offered because they are the right way to treat people, not because a statute compels it — which also means you do not have to establish that any particular law covers you before asking.
Children
This site is aimed at adults who pay an electricity bill. It is not directed at children, and no information is knowingly collected from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent something, ask us to delete it and it will be deleted.
Security, honestly stated
The site runs over HTTPS, forms are rate-limited, and the mailing list is stored where it cannot be reached from a public web address. It is also a small site maintained by one person, and no site can promise it will never be breached. Please do not send anything sensitive through the contact form — it is for corrections and questions, not confidential information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the site rather than slipped in quietly.
